How did Thijs Offermeijer build Malelions?


The story of brand Malelions is not the standard story of an experienced entrepreneur who started a clothing brand at a later age. On the contrary, Thijs Offermeijer, the founder of brand Malelions, discovered his passion for entrepreneurship during his high school years.

At the age of just 15 or 16, Thijs was already actively involved in clothing and sports , and developed his first entrepreneurial skills. High school was not the place where Thijs found his place, but that changed when he chose the 'Marketing Communication' course after obtaining his diploma. This study matched his interests and passion for fashion and marketing perfectly. Every day he went to school with great passion and pleasure, despite the long and intensive days.

His next step in development was the study 'Commercial Economics Business Concept'. During this study Thijs, together with a fellow student, started his first real business: selling bead bracelets. What started as a small, experimental business, grew into something much bigger thanks to Thijs' strong drive and entrepreneurial spirit.

After the success of the bracelets, Thijs expanded the range with caps , T-shirts , and other clothing items. This slowly started to transform the brand into a full-fledged clothing brand.

How did the Malelions brand grow?


Malelions started out under a different brand name in its early years. The modest enterprise grew into a serious business. Through collabs with celebrities, who started wearing their products, new doors were opened for the brand and the strong growth that came with it. Malelions became bigger and more famous.

The range of clothing also became increasingly wider. A women 's, children's and even successful sports collection was launched. This allowed Malelions to appeal to a broader target group, ranging from teenagers to 40-plussers. The brand has now grown into one of the most recognizable Dutch clothing brands.
